After 25 years, Adelboden Chairman Peter Willen announced that he will retire from his position. Just in time for the next edition of the races at the famed Chuenisbärgli, Willen will celebrate his 65th birthday on 12th January.
Willen announced his intentions during the latest General Meeting on 22nd October.
During his impressive tenure, Willen turned Adelboden into a permanent and highlight stop on the Audi FIS World Cup tour. The races themselves became a weekend-long festival that saw the budget increase tenfold in the last two decades.
Pascal von Allmen will be the new president of the board of administration. He has been CEO of the light and electricity supply company Adelboden AG since March, 1st, 2019. “The Ski World Cup Adelboden is of immense importance for he town and the tourism in the region. I am looking forward to shape the future of this event together with the board of administration, the management and the Organising Committee”, von Allmen said.
Christian Haueter has been elected as the new Managing Director and will lead the entire Adelboden World Cup development of a strategy for 2020-2024. He started on 1st March 2019 as the successor of Kathrin Hager, who decided after 12 years of management to reduce her role.
Peter Willen said, “With Christian Haueter we have a well-educated, native of Adelboden. Ruedi Kaufmann has been responsible for the technical since August 2018 with great commitment. We are convinced, with this competent team at the office, the experiences Organising Committee and the new make-up of the board of directors that we will be well prepared for the future.”
