Klosters (SUI) was the host of the 37th edition of the Cross-Country Masters World Cup which took place from 3rd-10th March 2017. Following Grindelwald in 1999, the event was carried out on Swiss soil for the second time.
1161 participants from 29 nations made up the starting field and spectators on-site were able to see many former stars competing. Competitors entered in three individual competitions in classical or free technique. Based on age categories (30-85 and older) events were carried out in the distances of 5, 10, 15, 30 and 45 km. The programme was rounded out by 4x5 km relay competitions.
Overall, 447 medals were handed out with Russia dominating the standings with 134 medals followed by the United States with 51 and Italy with 39 medals. Host Switzerland collected 46 medals.
In the Closing Ceremony, the flag was passed on to Minneapolis (USA) which will host the event in 2018. Beitostoelen (NOR) will host the next edition in 2019.
