Three days, two disciplines, one champion -
Nordic Combined is looking to crown its best all-around athlete as the fourth edition of the Triple gets underway in Seefeld (AUT) this weekend.
The big question is if anyone can beat Eric Frenzel (GER) who has won the past three editions.
Among his biggest rivals is Norwegian jumping sensation Jarl Riiber, who has thrown his hat in the ring on the jumping hill and might be able to carry an advantage to the finish in the 5 km opening event. Frenzel’s teammates Johannes Rydzek and Fabian Riessle have both beaten him this winter in 10km events.
After a 5km competition on Friday and a 10km event on Saturday, the first athlete to cross the finish line in the 15km race on Sunday will be crowned the Triple Champion who wins the coveted Triple trophy, EUR 10,000 of additional prize money and 200 World Cup points, double the normal amount.
