Just in time for the 2017/18 Audi FIS Ski World Cup season, Audi announced at its traditional media talk on 27th October 2017 in Soelden (AUT) that the Audi FIS Ski World Cup will continue to be held under the Audi flag. The extension of the partnership between Audi and FIS will run through the 2021/22 season.
Its commitment in winter sports provides Audi with an ideal platform to present the sporting performance and dynamism of the brand to an international audience. In the 2002/03 season, the Audi FIS Ski World Cup celebrated its premiere under the symbol of the four rings. The 2017/18 season marks the 16th year of the important partnership, which is based on trust and a great spirit of innovation.
"We are pleased to be able to announce the extension of this long-lasting and successful partnership right before the start of the Olympic season,” said Thomas Glas, Director of Sports Marketing at AUDI AG. “This allows Audi to be and stay the leading partner of international winter sports. Our role as title sponsor of the FIS Alpine World Cup is one of the highlights of our extensive engagement.”
In conjunction with the World Cup opening in Soelden, Audi was presented with the special 50th anniversary edition FIS Alpine Ski World Cup jubilee starting bib by FIS President Gian Franco Kasper in recognition of the loyal partnership and key role played by Audi as the long-term title sponsor of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup.
Audi and FIS
The extensive engagement of Audi reaches across the FIS disciplines: since 2011 as title sponsor of the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup, November 2013 as partner of the FIS Nordic Combined World Cup and the FIS Cross-Country and Ski Jumping World Cups since the beginning of the 2014/2015 season. Meanwhile, Audi was the Presenting Sponsor of the 2017 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in St. Moritz (SUI) and an international sponsor of the 2017 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti (FIN). The Four Hills Tournament and the Ski Flying World Championships were held under the banner of the four rings as well. Furthermore, Audi was a partner in the 2017 FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada (ESP).
