It is no secret that snow sports are healthy in Austria. One of the keys to this success has been their national programme, which in 2018 will expand once again as part of the FIS SnowKidz programme.
The National Schools Snow Sport Project is coordinated by the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV). Together with regional ski associations, governments and school boards, the programme offers all school children free or very low priced (5 Euro in Tyrol) lift passes. The aim of this offer is to make it easier for schools to arrange field trips to the snow. Also discounted equipment rental and professional instructors can be arranged.
In 2016/17, 115 ski resorts participated in the project. Now in 2017/18, eight additional resorts have committed their facilities bringing the total to 123. The full programme has partnered with the FIS SnowKidz programme and all participating destinations are listed on the SnowKidz Event Locator: (https://snowkidz.com/en/Service/Find_an_event/Event_Locator) .
To apply for the lift passes, schools need only to contact the ÖSV or their regional ski association and provide the dates of their field trip.
