Under the umbrella and with the support of FIS Solidarity, the Armenian Ski Association recently held a Junior Alpine Training Camp and an Alpine Coaches seminar.
The inspiring gathering brought together 22 young Armenian athletes and 18 coaches engaged in Alpine Skiing for a week of learning led by FIS expert Werner Margereiter, former Alpine athlete and coach from Austria.
From 30th January to 5th February, Margereiter led practical and theoretical sessions for coaches and athletes, including modern training and competition methods, and extensive on-snow training at Tsaghkadzor Ski Resort, which features FIS homologated courses.
The participants demonstrated first-hand what they have learned during the camp in slalom and giant slalom races which were held at the end of it.
Gagik Sargysan, Secretary General of the Armenian Ski Association commented: “It was not the first time that the Armenian Ski Association held a Junior Alpine Training Camp and an Alpine Coaches seminar in Armenia with the support of FIS. Such initiatives are highly effective and crucial for the professional development of our coaches and athletes. We hope these kind of events will continue to be organised in future as they truly help our coaches and athletes to learn from the best experts, to gain new skills and to grow technically as well as physically.”
