Under the umbrella of the FIS Development Programme, a fantastic Cross-Country Training Camp concluded on 20th December 2017 in Val di Fiemme (ITA) with athletes and coaches from 13 nations*.
Led by Alberto Rigoni, former coach of the Italian national team, daily training sessions focused on technique improvements in both classic and skating. The teams trained in Passo Lavaze (1800m above sea level) and in the stadium of Lago di Tesero (900m), which successfully hosted three editions of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.
Besides training, the group took part in workshops on topics including waxing for both techniques.
The camp was enriched by a seminar with Georg Zipfel, FIS Technical Delegate and former athlete and coach of the German national team. His expert advice, sense of humour and inspiration were very much appreciated by the participants.
On the last day a fun “pizza party” rounded out the camp which carried not only a high level training opportunity, but also a social component by uniting young athletes from various member nations of the FDP programme from all over the world.
“We’ve held a fantastic and inspiring training camp and wish the athletes and coaches all the best for the upcoming competitions”, commented Camp Coordinator Sandro Pertile.
