The FIS Development Programme South America Alpine Training Camp got off to a positive start in El Colorado (CHI), starting on 8thJuly. 18 athletes (nine ladies and nine men) from Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland and Serbia will be training with expert coaching in order to prepare for the upcoming season until 28th July.
The programme involves intensive on-snow training and dryland sessions. At the end of the camp all the athletes will participate in the FIS races in El Colorado on July 26th– 27th with two giant slaloms and one slalom race for each gender.
In the framework of the FIS Development Programme, the training camp offers not only high-level training opportunities but also has a social component by uniting young athletes from various National Ski Associations.
Camp Coordinator Markus Malsiner reported that the excellent snow and weather conditions in El Colorado, have enabled a very good start to the training camp.
Thanks go to El Colorado Mountain Manager, Wyn Brown, and the Chilean Ski and Snowboard Federation for their tremendous support. With their help, it was possible to create a perfect environment to offer to all the participants the chance to increase their technical and athletic skills.
