The ‘Mountain Peak Summit’ was staged last Wednesday, 17th February 2018 in Kitzbühel (AUT) on the eve of the prestigious Audi FIS Ski World Cup races, bringing together more than 100 key stakeholders in the snow sports industry for an afternoon of high-level panel discussions and networking.
FIS was represented by Council Member Peter Schröcksnadel and Secretary General Sarah Lewis who outlined visions for winter sports, focused on Alpine Skiing.
Further panel members and speakers included Jochen Färber, Head of Olympic Channel Services Switzerland, Bruno Marty, Executive Director of Winter Sports at Infront Sports & Media AG, and current and former alpine stars including Ilka Stuhec (SLO), Marc Girardelli (LUX), Marco Büchel (LIE) and Urs Lehman who is also President of Swiss-Ski.
The in-depth discussions surrounded topics including opportunities and risks in the modern winter sports business, the Olympic Games and marketing of athletes, TV rights and the future TV market, big data and digitalisation, training optimisation and injury prevention as well as winter sport and Asia, notably with regard to the upcoming Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang (KOR) and Beijing (CHN).
The summit provided a perfect opportunity to interact with persons and organisations from sport, event organisers, tourism, media, industry and technology.
