Hot Planet/Cool Athletes by ‘Protect our Winters’ connects high school and middle school students with powerful messengers – the athletes. Now their events have partnered with FIS SnowKidz and have been officially added to the calendar for 2017/18.
Each year ‘Protect our Winters’ invites its professional athletes to share first-hand accounts of how climate change is affecting their sport. The 45 minute multi-media in-school assemblies cover a wide variety of topics relating to climate change including what is climate science, examples of what is happening, and how we can all make a difference. To date the assemblies have reached over 60,000 students since 2011.
Each of the assemblies is designed as a turn-key event for both the athletes and the schools. The programme is available free to any school interested in educating teens about climate change through an in-person, energising, and informational climate assembly aimed at empowering students to address global climate change.
