Introducing the Futures Project

The Futures Project is a new project by British Ski and Snowboard aiming to connect with the grassroots of winter sports using the power of freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Still in its infancy, the project consists of two parts, the Futures Award and the Futures Sessions.

Each "step" of the Futures Snow Award is made up of 20 tricks: ten tricks that can be achieved on any mountain, indoor or dry slope and another ten that are completed "off snow".

The Futures Sessions offer young people aged ten years upwards the opportunity to take part in coached freestyle ski and snowboard sessions either on snow or at a dry slope. Each Futures Session is run by qualified coaches who will help to learn lots of different skills, whether participants had coaching before or not. Futures Snow Award is a brand-new award programme aimed at young people aged six to twelve years old who want to keep skiing and snowboarding.

For 2018/2019 the Futures Project has aligned its Futures Sessions events with the FIS SnowKidz programme. Two events at Gloucester Ski and Snowboard Centre and Halifax Ski and Snowboard Centre have taken place with another two in Kidsgrove Ski Centre and Norfolk Snowsports Club set for September.
