The development of ladies’ activities was one of the main agenda items in the Nordic Combined meetings and a key step was made with the approval of rules and the introduction of a ladies’ Continental Cup calendar for the 2017/18 season.
The ladies’ tour stops in Otepää (EST) in the beginning of January (together with the men’s World Cup), Høydalsmo (NOR) at the end of January (together with the men’s Continental Cup) and in Nizhny Tagil (RUS) alongside the men’s three-event Continental Cup finals. In addition, a Junior World Championship test event will be held in Kandersteg (SUI). The format for the ladies features one jump and 5 km Individual Gundersen events.
The men’s World Cup calendar for the 2017/18 season was approved. New elements include an opening mini tour with three events in Ruka (FIN), a new Organiser in Otepää (EST), a return to Hakuba (JPN) site for the Nagano 1998 Olympic Winter Games en route to PyeongChang 2018 and two events in Trondheim (NOR), taking the total count of World Cup events to 28.
Mass start is back
Meanwhile, a ‘Reverse Gundersen’ mass start (10 km ski race followed by one round of jumping) will be tested at the Continental Cup level next winter for possible inclusion on the World Cup level.
