Passing of Hermann Wehrle

It is with great sadness that FIS is reporting on the death of Hermann Wehrle, long-time Head of the Organising Committee for the Ski Jumping events in Hinterzarten (GER). Wehrle, who joined the the ski club Hinterzarten in 1965, held the offices of treasurer and was responsible for the Nordic disciplines for 22 years. He was a sports official, Chief of Competition and Head of the Organising Committee for the Ski Jumping Summer Grand Prix for many years, as well as the deputy Secretary General for the FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 2010.

The ski sports family said goodbye to Wehrle in a church service in Hinterzarten, quite befittingly on the same day that the German national championships in Ski Jumping took place at the “Adler Skistadion”. FIS Race Director Walter Hofer was on site to represent FIS and was joined by German Ski Federation President Dr Franz Steinle. FIS would like to express its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Hermann Wehrle.
