FIS would like to extend its sincere condolences to the family and friends of 38-year-old 2010 Olympic Champion, Vibeke Skofterud, who tragically died in a jet ski accident near Arendal in southern Norway last weekend.
Vibeke Skofterud was member of the Norwegian Cross-Country team with whom she won a gold medal in the relay at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. At the World Ski Championships Skofterud, won two gold medals, one silver and bronze and finished 15 times on the World Cup podium.
FIS would also like to express deep sympathies to the family and friends of young British Snowboarder Ellie Soutter, who died last week on her 18th birthday. Soutter won a bronze medal for Great Britain at the 2017 Youth Olympic Winter Festival and carried the British flag at the closing ceremony.
