With 10 days until the start of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, FIS Newsflash in collaboration with the Olympic Channel re-lives the most memorable moments from the past Games in Sochi (RUS).
In men’s slalom, favourite Marcel Hirscher (AUT) was bidding to become only the fourth man to hold the Olympic slalom crown, the World Championship title and the World Cup title at the same time.
However, it was his countryman Mario Matt who rose to the challenge best under the floodlights in Rosa Khutor. The 34-year-old two-time slalom World Champion (2007, 2001) led after the first run and held on to beat Hirscher by 0.28 seconds.
Young gun Henrik Kristoffersen (NOR) became the youngest man to win an Olympic medal at the age of 19, when he took bronze, 0.83 seconds back.
