In the Snowboard halfpipe in Sochi, Iouri Podladtchikov nailed the run of a lifetime to win the halfpipe gold for Switzerland. In a thrilling event, Podladtchikov performed his signature double-cork 1440 - which he dubbed the “Yolo” flip, to earn his first Olympic gold medal.
The Japanese duo of 15-year-old Ayumu Hirano and 18-year-old Taku Hiraoka won silver and bronze, respectively.
Reigning Olympic Champion Shaun White (USA), one of the biggest names in winter sports, who hoped to win a third straight Olympic gold, finished fourth after dropping two tricks on his first run and a missed trick on his second.
