The Ski Jumping Committee discussed a number of proposals. The following ones were approved by the FIS Council:
A system will be tested during the Summer Grand Prix with no pre-qualified athletes. All ski jumpers will need to go through the qualification round.
In the future, ski jumping suits will no longer be plombed. Additionally, two-piece underwear will become mandatory for all athletes.
The application from BWT (Best Water Technology) to introduce new BWT Ski Jumping skis, produced by Fischer Sports was approved. BWT is a leading European company specialised in water purification technology.
The competition calendars for the upcoming season were approved.
Some of the highlights on the calendars include:
- The male ski jumpers will compete for medals at the FIS Ski Flying World Championships in Oberstdorf (GER) from 19th-21st January 2018.
- The first-ever ladies’ World Cup team competitions will be staged in Hinterzarten (GER) and Zao (JPN).
- In addition to the two originally planned normal hill competitions in Lillehammer (NOR), a large hill World Cup competition for the top 30 ladies will be held there.
- The ladies' World Cup finals will take place on 24th and 25th March 2018 in Oberstdorf (GER) on the same weekend as the men’s finals in Planica (SLO).
