Intense activity at FIS Alpine development camps

More than 30 young athletes from 20 nations, born between 1998 and 2002 took part in the FIS Alpine Development Camps. Athletes from Albania, Argentina, Armenia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Cyprus, Spain, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Chinese Taipei, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Besides the sporting aspects, the camps were also essential in fostering the social aspect and friendships between the international athletes.

In the first period, from 10th October to 10thNovember, camps were held at Stubai (AUT), Mölltal (AUT), Pitztal (AUT) and Hintertux (AUT). The second period began in Pitztal (AUT) on November 18, continued at the Schnalstal (ITA) and ended in Kronplatz (ITA) on December 15.

While the snow conditions were not always easy, good training sessions were still possible. The programme for the participants was intense. Giant slalom and slalom sessions were scheduled in the mornings, while dryland training inside and outside were set for the afternoons to improve the endurance and strength of the participants. A lot of time was also used to work on the preparation of skis. The evenings were dedicated to analysing video material of the ski training sessions.

To wrap up the camps, the athletes participated at two SES Cup races in Kronplatz (ITA), where two giant slalom and slalom races each were being held.
