A baby girl who was found dying on the streets of Haiti year ago and was adopted by a Swiss couple at age nine months even though they were told she was not expected to live for very long, is now hoping to represent her birth nation as an alpine skier in the Olympics Winter Games 2022 in Beijing.

Celine Marti, who became hooked on skiing as soon as she tried the sport on a childhood school ski camp took part in the slalom race at February’s FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Are (SWE) finishing in 52ndplace.

Self-funded, Celine Marti now works part time as a ski instructor and says her next aim is to compete in the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2021 in Cortina (ITA) before, hopefully, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics the following year.
