Preparations of FIS World Cups Ruka Nordic are proceeding in the most excellent winter conditions. Ruka (FIN) welcomed the first snow already in October, and now the depth of snow varies between 5–20cm depending on the location.

The Rukatunturi ski jumping hill is almost finished: the in-run track was prepared last week and during this week the preparation will be finalised. Snow has also already been spread to the landing slope, and soon the whole hill will be given its finishing touches. The hill should be ready for jumping next week.

4,5 kilometres of finished cross-country track ready for the competition. There is also snow ready to be spread to the stadium area, and rest of the whole 5km track will be finished next week.

“We have excellent conditions when it comes to snow, and we are also well ahead of our schedule regarding the preparation of the competition venues. Overall the situation is great, especially for the ski jumping hill. When we get closer to the competition weekend, we’ll make small final adjustments to the hill so it will be perfect for the World Cup competition”, says Seppo Linjakumpu, the General Secretary of Ruka Nordic.

The first National teams to start their practices at HS142 will be Finland’s Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined teams.

“It’s great that we can offer the teams a chance to train here already weeks before the start of the World Cup. All the preparations are going well, and we are expecting this year’s competition to be very exciting”, Linjakumpu adds.

This year, Ruka Nordic returns to the familiar 3-day program, which includes 11 World Cup competitions altogether – more than in any other event this season. In addition to the record number of World Cup competitions there will be new side events for spectators to enjoy during the long weekend.
