COC-M: Andreas Wank takes the win in Rena

Andreas Wank of Germany took the win in the first competition of the Continental Cup weekend in Rena (NOR) on Saturday afternoon.

The 30-year-old from the ski club in Hinterzarten, with 131 m second after the first round, showed a strong jump of 137 m in the final and took his second win this winter, the sixth of his career in the COC, with a total of 266.3 points. "These were my first jumps on this hill and I think it's pretty nice. I especially like that it has a real Norwegian style, which means that you need really good flying skills. I'm really happy with today's result. The conditions today were perfect and I hope it will be the same tomorrow", said Andreas Wank.

Sondre Ringen of Norway was the best jumper in the first round with 136.5 m, in the final the 21-year-old landed at 131 m and came in behind the German with his 260.7 points. With the performance, he could equal his career-best result in the Continental Cup. He was also second in Sapporo this January. "It was a very good competition in perfect weather conditions. It was especially nice to jump in my home country. I did a good job today and I'm satisfied with the result", said Sondre Ringen.

The third spot on the podium went to Germany's David Siegel, who jumped on 127.5 m in the first round and then moved up from fifth to third overall with a 137 m jump in the final. "In training I had some problems, but the jumps in the competition were very good. I like the hill in Rena, it's  a big one and its profile is a little bit old-school, but this is something I like very much", said the German.

After his two wins last weekend in Klingenthal, Marius Lindvik of Norway had to be satisfied with a fourth place in this competition. The 19-year-old was only eleventh after the first half of the competition, but with a strong second jump of 136.5 m he missed the Top 3 only be one point.

Stefan Huber, Ulrich Wohlgenannt, Philipp Aschenwald and Daniel Huber finished on the place five to eight and provided a very good team result for the Austrians. Andreas Schuler of Switzerland came in on a good ninth place, Norway's Andreas Granerud Buskum achieved a career-best result in tenth.

Marius Lindvik remains in the lead of the Continental Cup overall ranking with 1022 points. Andreas Wank is now second with 960 points, David Siegel is third with 928 points.
