COC: Clemens Aigner last winner of the season

The last competition of the 2016/17 Continental Cup season could also not take place on the large hill due to the wind conditions and so the event had to be moved to the normal hill in Chaikovsky (RUS) again, like already on Saturday.

The last win in the COC this winter went to this season's best jumper. Clemens Aigner, who already secured the overall title before this competition, won on Sunday with jumps of 98 m and 99 m and 264.2 points. The 24-year-old Austrian stood on top of the podium seven times this season and won five of the last six competitions.

Rok Tarman of Slovenia came in second with 104 m and 99 m and 260.7 points and achieved his first ever podium result in the Continental Cup. So far two fifth places in Planica and Sapporo earlier this year were his best results.

With Daniel Huber, who jumped on 103.5 m and 101.5 m and finished third with 258.5 points, a second member of the Austrian team was in the Top 3 in the season's final event.

Miran Zupancic of Slovenia was fourth, followed by Roman Trofimov, who was the best jumper of the hosts in this competition in fifth. The longest jump of the day was shown by Trofimov's teammate Denis Kornilov with 108 m in the first round. But the 30-year-old could then not defend his leading position with 98.5 m in the final round and came in sixth overall.

Constantin Schmid, who took his first win in the COC on Saturday in Chaikovsky, was seventh and again the best German. With Johannes Schubert and Felix Hoffmann in eighth and tenth, two more athletes of the German Ski Association finished in the Top 10 today.

Dimitry Vassiliev, who was disqualified on Saturday, was ninth and the third member of the hosting Russian team, who came in among the best today.

The overall title in the Continental Cup 2016/17 was won by Austria's Clemens Aigner with 1191 points, followed by the two Slovenes Miran Zupancic (938 points) and Nejc Dezman (862 points).
