Eisenerz is an old mining town in Styria, Austria, about 109 kilometres Northwest of Graz. The local mountain "Erzberg" is one of the oldest mining areas in Austria with evidence of mines dating back to the 12th century. The town with about 4.000 inhabitants is surrounded by the beautful mountain scenery of the Pfaffenstein, the Kaiserschild and the Erzberg which is used for motocross races today.

In a high valley above the city, which offers considerably lower temperatures and much snow, a centre for Nordic sports was established. At the beginning of the 1990ies, three jumping hils were built which serve as excellent training facilities for the Austrian ski jumpers and Nordic Combined athletes. The centre offers a HS100 and a HS66 hill, as well as a smaller training hill. They can only be used in winter. For summer, the local sports club WSV Eisenerz also owns some different hills which can be covered with plastic mats.
