The Vitranc Cup has been present in Slovenia since the year 1961. Throughout all those years, its organization has been developing concurrently with the development of alpine skiing and competitions’ safety requirements, we have been gathering experience and know-how, and today the Vitranc Cup is one of the largest, best organized and one of the best visited traditional sport events in Slovenia and in central Europe. Most merit for that shall be attributed to the diligent, hard-working and persistent inhabitants of Kranjska Gora and the neighbouring villages, who still co-create this top skiing event by their volunteer work, as well as to the Vitranc Cup Organizing Committee. Because of that, the Vitranc Cup is deeply anchored in the FIS calendar also in the future.

The 55th edition of Vitranc Cup will take place on March 5th and 6th 2016.This year yet again the organizers endeavour to justify their reputation in organizing an attractive event, which brings together sport and entertainment. For two days, the best giant-slalom and slalom skiers will be racing on the slopes of Podkoren and competing for the best results and placements. The competition will be spiced up by music events at the skiing venue as well as in the centre of Kranjska Gora. After the giant-slalom race, on Saturday evening, the visitors in Kranjska Gora will be entertained and have fun at the »Q-Max Party«

However, the Vitranc Cup is not merely sports and entertainment. The best world’s skiers bring to Kranjska Gora also the political and business elite on the local, national and international level. In those two days, people from different walks of life, areas and business activities will share their admiration and enjoy in the skiers’ performance, competitive fighting spirit, persistence and discipline, i.e. virtues which today represent a pre-requisite for any area of our lives.

So, welcome to the peak of the winter!
