Engagements, weddings and babies: the alpine skiing off-season has delivered plenty of emotions – even without a single World Cup gate in sight. Who said the summer break was quiet? While the skis were being packed away, athletes traded race suits for wedding dresses, tuxedos and holiday outfits and  showed that there is plenty to celebrate away from the slopes, too.

From ski-top proposals to seaside weddings, from “I do” to “welcome home, little girl”, keeping up with all the pink news in the alpine world this summer has almost been a discipline of its own.

Aerni: saying “I do” on skis

The first big “yes” of the off-season came in true alpine skiing style. On 10 April, Swiss technical specialist Luca Aerni married his long-time partner Audrey Chaperon – and naturally, there were skis involved. The newlyweds shared pictures from the mountains, posing together in the snow and announcing their new status as Mr and Mrs Aerni. Because when skiing is such a big part of your life, why not bring it to your wedding day too?

The couple later celebrated with a bigger wedding surrounded by friends and family on 26 June.

A wedding – and a baby – for the Meillards

Barely had the first wedding bells stopped ringing when another Swiss ski couple had something to celebrate. Loïc Meillard and Zoé Chastan tied the knot in Valais at the end of April. For Meillard, already an Olympic champion in 2026, the celebrations did not stop there.

Just a few weeks later, the couple announced the arrival of their first child: a baby girl. On 27 May, Meillard shared the news with a heartwarming picture of his daughter's tiny foot, writing “Welcome home, little girl.” From Olympic gold to becoming a dad in the space of a few months – 2026 has certainly been a year to remember for the Swiss star.

Clément Noël joins the newlywed club

The wedding bells continued to ring in France. On 6 June, Clément Noël married his long-time partner Julia Bonhomme. The French Olympic slalom champion shared the happy news alongside elegant wedding pictures, marking another special chapter for the 29-year-old.

Zubčić says “I do” in Istria

From the mountains to the Croatian coast, Filip Zubčić celebrated his wedding in beautiful Istria. The Croatian giant slalom specialist married his long-time partner Ana Vukoja on 15 May in Istria.

A dream by the sea for Miha Hrobat

Next in line was Slovenian speed specialist Miha Hrobat, who married his long-time partner Lana Petek in June. The couple chose a stunning villa in Slovenia for their wedding, saying “I do” with the sea as their backdrop. Surrounded by family and friends, the pair celebrated their special day with all the ingredients of a summer dream: sunshine, a beautiful setting and, of course, a party to follow.

Gisin & De Aliprandini: a ski love story gets its fairytale ending

Perhaps one of the most anticipated weddings of the summer belonged to Michelle Gisin and Luca De Aliprandini. After more than a decade together and two years after their engagement, the Swiss-Italian ski couple finally said their big “I do” on the shores of Lake Garda. Following their civil ceremony in Engelberg, the pair celebrated their wedding in Riva del Garda on 20 June.

The celebration brought together family, friends and plenty of familiar faces from the ski world. Among the guests were fellow racers and friends including Wendy Holdener, Jasmine Flury, Jasmina Suter, Filip Zubčić, Giovanni Borsotti and former Italian speed star Peter Fill.

Billy Major: from Greek holiday to “fiancé”

And the wedding season wasn't limited to those already walking down the aisle. British slalom specialist Billy Major turned a holiday in Greece into an unforgettable trip when he proposed to his long-time partner Olivia Foster on the island of Kefalonia.

Via Instagram, Major shared the engagement news from the Greek coast, showing off the couple's happy moment – and, of course, the ring. From training camps to the Ionian Sea, it seems the British racer found the perfect place for his next big step.

Cerutti & Tuaire: another ski couple gets engaged

And finally, another French ski couple has joined the engagement club. Camille Cerutti and former French alpine racer Louis Tuaire have also shared their love story with the ski world. The pair, already known as a couple within the French skiing community, have been enjoying the summer together – proving once again that sometimes the best teammate is the one waiting for you after the finish line.

And the family keeps growing

The wedding bells weren't the only reason for celebration this summer. Alongside Loïc Meillard and Zoé Chastan, who welcomed their daughter shortly after tying the knot, more happy baby news reached the alpine skiing family.

Henrik Kristoffersen became a father for the second time this summer, welcoming a baby girl with his wife Tonje. Their son Emil is now officially a big brother – another very special reason for the Kristoffersen family to celebrate.

And the freshest family news from the alpine world: Michael Matt also welcomed his second child this summer. Sharing the happy news with his followers, the Austrian racer announced the arrival of the newest member of the family, making his daughter a big sister.

And as one British ski career came to an end, a new little life began. Recently retired Dave Ryding also became a father to a son, River Ryding, who is already one month old and, according to his proud dad, “eaten like a horse”.

With weddings, engagements and new additions to the family, the alpine skiing world certainly had plenty to celebrate during the summer break.
