Hans Christer Holund crowned World Champion in 50km F

With the highlight of the men's 50km in free technique the 52nd FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld were concluded. Hans Christer Holund of Norway takes home the title of World Champion.
The last day of Nordic racing in the Tyrolean Alps summed up the great atmosphere of the past two weeks in Seefeld. Sunshine, a diverse track setting and a cheering, international crowd was the setup for the final 50km race. The favourites lived up to their expectations.
Hans Christer Holund however, was the main game changer in front of 10'000 spectators. 22km into the race, he set off from the leading group with no one behind him up for the chase. Holund remained unattacked until Russian Alexander Bolshunov set out for the catch.
On a spectacular final lap, Bolshunov had his eyes all set on the Norwegian.
Hans Christer Holund pulled through until the finish line, earning the World Champion title after 1:49:59.3 hours. Alexander Bolshunov follows with a +27.8 second gap and the 3rd rank goes to Norwegian Sjur Røthe +57.8 seconds behind.
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships were concluded with a wonderful closing ceremony, honoring the great achievements of all the participating nations and athletes.
