Oslo is located between the Oslo Fjord and the green hills of Oslomarka. The combination of city life and easy access to outdoor activities makes Oslo an unique destination. Oslo is the capital of Norway and has approx. 634 500 inhabitants.

In the winter Oslo has more than 2600 kilometres of cross-country trails in addition to eight ski centres. Only half an hour by subway from Oslo city centre, there are vast opportunities for winter fun! After a full day of skiing, the city is close by with the world's best after-ski! Oslo has everything you would expect from a capital: shopping, restaurants and bars, a lively cultural life and tourist attractions.

The most famous attractions are: the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum, the Munch Museum and Holmenkollen. The Ski Jump in Holmenkollen has about 1 million visitors each year and is the world's 3rd most famous sports arena. The old Ski Jump was the main arena for the Olympic Games in 1952. The Ski Jump was rebuild before the WSC in 2011,and is now even more attractive for the tourists with easy access to the top of the tower. Inside the ski jump, the ski museum presents the history of skiing over the past 4000 years. The annual FIS World Cup Nordic/Holmenkollen Skifestival is almost like a second National Day for Norwegians with thousands of spectators and a great atmosphere.

COMPETITION SITE

The Holmenkollen national arena, comprising the Holmenkollen HS 134 hill, the Midtstuen HS 106 hill and the Cross-Country stadium, is a compact World Cup Nordic venue in the true sense of the word. The three competition venues all lie in close proximity to each other, surrounded by the Cross-Country tracks which provide many scenic views towards the venue, the city and the fjord.

In addition to all the enthusiastic spectators in the venue, Holmenkollen is well known for the huge crowd of spectators out in the forest cheering the athletes as they pass by.

TRAVEL

From the airport (Oslo Lufthavn – Gardermoen):
The Oslo Airport Express Train (Flytoget) leaves from inside the Oslo Airport terminal building 70 meters to the right after leaving the custom area in the arrival hall. The train takes you downtown Oslo Central Station in 19 minutes and leaves every 10 minutes.

From the city to the Holmenkollen Venue:
We recommend that you take the Metro (no:1) towards Frognerseteren. Stop: Holmenkollen. Follow the signs to the Holmenkollen Venue, ten minutes walk from the metro station in Holmenkollen.
