ACL tear for Justin Murisier

Two months before the start of the new World Cup season, Justin Murisier has to cope with another important setback. Medical examination revealed an ACL tear and cartilage damage in his right knee.

Last Sunday, Justin Murisier crashed in giant slalom training in New Zealand and had to fly back to Switzerland prematurely. The athlete from the Swiss ski team underwent surgery today and everything went well. Nevertheless, he will miss the entire season 2018/19. “I will come back next year. This is my new goal and I am ready to fight like a lion,” Murisier says.

For the 26 years old athlete it’s the third severe knee injury since his beginnings on the World Cup Tour in 2010. In fall 2011 he tore his ACL playing football and eleven months later again during slalom training. Because of these injuries, he missed the entire 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. Last winter, the skier from Wallis finished the season on the 7th place of the giant slalom standings.
