Austrian Ski Association names 2020/21 Alpine national team

The Austrian Ski Association has just announced the names for its 2020/21 alpine squad and a change of direction within the women's downhill team.

Florian Scheiber will be the new ÖSV responsible for the Women’s speed team and thus replaces Roland Assinger, who led the team for six years and was responsible for many successes of the speed ladies.

With the Tyrolean, the Austrian Ski Association has found a successor in its own ranks. The 32-year-old has already worked as an assistant coach for the speed ladies for the past two years and is therefore very familiar with the entire team. Scheiber, who ended his career as an active skier in 2016, skillfully incorporates his experience from ski racing into his work.

"Florian has proven to be an extremely competent co-trainer and for me, he is the logical successor of Roland Assinger", says Christian Mitter, Women’s ÖSV sports director, who adds: "He convinces with his calm and positive manner, which is very good for the team. For me, the first priority was to engage someone who knows the structures and the environment very well. That's why I'm delighted that Florian has taken over this role".
