The 40th edition of the Alpine Junior World Ski Championships has begun today the 3rd of March in Bansko.

As part of coronavirus protocols in place for the Championships at Pririn Mountain, the first Alpine skiing competition of this level to be hosted in Bulgaria, men and women are due to compete separately with a two-day break between their competitions.

The men's Super-G is scheduled to be followed by the men’s giant slalom on Thursday (March 4) and men’s slalom on Friday (March 5).

Women's competition is due to follow the same order of disciplines with the Super-G scheduled for Monday (March 8), followed by the women’s giant slalom on Tuesday (March 9) and finally a women’s slalom event on Wednesday (March 10).

A total of 179 competitors from 44 nations are scheduled to participate, with 103 registered for the men’s events and 76 for the women’s competitions, a reduction in numbers compared to last year's event in Narvik, Norway.
