The first weekend of women’s speed races was not a lucky one. A heavy rainfall covered most of the Alps with heavy snowfall and the Engadin was no exception.

The first scheduled race in St.Moritz was cancelled early in the morning due to the continuous snowfall and the amount of snow on the racecourse, while the decision to cancel the second scheduled race was taken as a precautionary measure due to the high risk of avalanche alerted by WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF of Davos. Due to the high level of danger in the mountain area, St. Moritz ski area has decided to close the access and therefore Sunday's race has been cancelled.

The organisers together with FIS did an exemplary job, but as is often said in our sport, Mother Nature prevailed.
