On Tuesday 9th November, Austrian skier Roland Leitinger, seriously injured his knee during a parallel training on the Reiteralm. The runner-up from Sölden suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee whilst falling and therefore, will be out for the entire of the season.

With the 2022 Winter Olympics taking place this season, the injury has left Leitinger devasted, “Now history repeats itself. I already missed the season in 2018 because of a torn cruciate ligament. At the moment I feel a great emptiness, I just have to let that sink in for now.”

The 30-year-old giant slalom specialist would like to have his operation as soon as possible in order to start the rehabilitation of his knee.
