Sofia Goggia (ITA) is from another planet. If winning with those gaps was already an arduous task, repeating it in totally different weather conditions and the big favourite's pressure was even more difficult today in Lake Louise second downhill.

So it was victory number 6 in a series, in terms of World Cup downhill races, for Sofia Goggia, who outclassed her competitors in the second downhill in Lake Louise. This time Breezy Johnson (USA) and Corinne Suter (SUI), her direct rivals for most of last season (the American had already been second yesterday), at least managed to reduce the gap to under a second, 84 and 98 hundredths respectively, and take second and third place.

Corinne Suter made a strong recovery in these races after a fall in training during the months of preparation, was able to achieve a fifth and a third place in these two opening downhill races.

Great performances by the Austrians Cornelia Huetter and Christine Scheyer, fifth with a hundredth of advantage to Nadia Delago who collected her best career results in these two downhill races with a 6th place.

And tomorrow, it's the turn of the Super-G before heading back to Central Europe!
