Niskanen, Fähndrich and Nepryaeva win at Cogne 10km C

Distance races in classic style was on the menu of today FIS Cross-Country World Cup race in beautiful Cogne (ITA). After 5 years Kerttu Niskanen (FIN) managed to claim another victory. All smiles of course also for Switzerland's Nadine Fähndrich who never before reached the World Cup podium.

Kerttu Niskanen could not believe her great shape on the sunny 5km Classic track in Cogne. After having a more difficult start of the season, she finally managed to claim back on the podium. Niskanen finishes with 27:24.8 minutes, being followed by Nadine Fähnrich only +3.0 seconds behind. The young Swiss allrounder had proven herself in good shape already the day before at the sprint races in Free technique finishing with the 9th rank. Thus a well deserved 2nd rank on the podium which markes her first ever podium result in a World Cup race.

The fight for rank 3 was carried out by the Russian athletes. Natalia Nepryaeva managed to gain speed in the second lap of the 10km race and ended with +12.6 seconds behind Niskanen. Her team colleague Yulia Belorukova raced to position 4, +14.4 seconds behind.
