Three Russian and two Norwegians stood in the start gates of todays final heat in the Classic Sprint in Val di Fiemme. All eyes were on sprint superstars Klæbo and Bolshunov as well as current runner-up, Sergey Ustiugov.

Johannes Høsflot Klæbo had impressively taken the lead in the heats before, finishing them off in the right position just before the final downhill, hoping that his skis would let him glide towards to the top position. The plan worked out for the Norwegian, despite he was once more challenged by the powerful performance of Ustiugov and Bolshunov. Ustiugov had taken the lead and was the pace maker of the group. Just in the final downhill, Klæbo concluded his strategy by taking the second position and a free lane towards the finish and powerfully pushed past Ustiugov who crosses the finish line in second place before Bolshunov.

Fourth is Paal Goldberg (NOR) before Gleb Retivykh and Andrey Melnichenko from Russia. With a great 7th spot, Jan Thomas Jenssen (NOR) continues his Tour de Ski and can be proud of this great result in his only 8th World Cup appearance. Some more World Cup experience celebrates Swiss top athlete Dario Cologna for whom it was also the 250th World Cup event.

The golden final stage awaits tomorrow with the prestigious climb up the Alpe Cermis. Klæbo leads the Tour de Ski now 1 second ahead of Bolshunov and 15 seconds ahead of Ustiugov.
