Within the past two year period, since the retirement of Justyna Kowalczyk, a new elite of female Cross-Country skiers has risen on the horizont of the Polish Cross-Country team. Kowalczyk herself together with her long-term coach Aleksander Wierietielny took over the coaches position.

The fruits of success were already visible at this years Junior World Championships in Oberwiesenthal, where 19 year-old Izabela Marcisz retured home with 3 medals. And if it would not have been for a fatal mistake in the final leg, the Relay team even would have even brought home gold from the Junior Worlds.

Heading into the new season 2020/21 the Polish Cross-Country ski team welcomes Martin Bajcicak who replaces Kowalczyk and Wierietielny as the head coach. Both former coaches will assist the team during the summer training and winter competitions however. The 43 year-old former Cross-Country athlete from Slovakia is looking forward for the new challenge and to work together with a motivated and young team squad.

The selections for the upcoming season have been published on the Polish Instagram page:
