Around three weeks before the FIS Cross-Country world elite meets in Switzerlands Nordic center of Davos, the organizers of Davos Nordic and the FIS event task force group have reported green light for the event.

The pivotal health concept for the competition weekend of 12th and 13th December was approved by Switzerlands national health authorities. The Davos Nordic team, together with Switzerlands National Ski Federation Swiss Ski, have established regulations according to applicable regulations of Switzerland in order to provide a safe training and competition platform.

“Despite our experience as an organizer of World Cup competitions, this year has been extremely challenging. But we feel that especially a sport like Cross-Country skiing has a huge potential to proceed also in those difficult times. With the support from Swiss Ski it was possible to set up a realistic and safe health concept that is feasible for all involved parties. For us this situation is challenging but at the same time a chance to re-think our processes. Each aspect had to be taken apart to see if it’s safe and if it makes sense with our approach. One of the toughest decisions concerned the spectators. Our plan was always to go with spectators but due to limitations of the federal government, we had to give in on those plans for this year.”Barbara Flury-Mettler, President of Davos Nordic

Detailed information regarding the health concept can be found on fisski.com. Choose the respective World Cup event and click on the yellow drop down menu to reach the event program including the health plan.
