Speed events cancelled at Alpine Season Finals

For the second straight day at the Audi FIS World Cup Season Finals in Lenzerheide (SUI), bad weather forced the cancellations of the day’s races.
Yesterday the men’s and women’s downhill had to be cancelled due to the inclement weather and today the men’s and women’s super-G suffered the same fate.
With today’s cancellations, the speed season officially came to an end and the four small globes in the two disciplines have been awarded.
Beat Feuz and Sofia Goggia were the winners of the downhill globes. Meanwhile the super-G globes went to Vincent Kreichmayr and Lara Gut.
Still on the schedule in Lenzerheide is tomorrow’s Team Event, followed by the slalom and giant slaloms on Saturday and Sunday.
In men’s giant slalom the battle is between Alexis Pinturault and Marco Odermatt. Odermatt holds a slim 25-point lead in the discipline. The two are also duking it out for the Overall Title with Pinturault in the lead by 31 points. The men’s slalom globe was already decided last weekend with Marco Schwarz earning the honors.
On the women’s side, all eyes will be on Petra Vlhova, who will try to hold off Lara Gut for the Overall Title. Additionally, the Slovakian is in a battle for the small globe with Katharina Liensberger and Mikaela Shiffrin still able to win the slalom globe. Marta Bassino has already clinched the giant slalom globe.
