The Slovenian Sprint athlete announced her decision to step back from professional Cross-Country skiing on Tuesday afternoon.

THE END! It was a hard decision, but I know it is right time to say goodbye, on this special #OlympicDay! It was a long journey, I have learned so much and will never forget all the experiences along the way. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all incredible opportunities and support! 🤗 #olympicday #timetosaygoodbye #olympics #olympicgames #torino2006 #vancouver2010 #sochi2014 #pyongchang2018 #specialmoments #thankyou

Vesna has been part of the FIS Cross-Country family for a long time. Her first World Cup start was in 2005 in Reit im Winkl. Right in the following year, she took part in her first Olympic Winter Games. But her dream of an Olympic medal had to wait a little longer. The now 35 year-old celebrated her first World Cup podium in 2009 in Düsseldorf with a third rank behind Hanna Falk and Natalia Korosteleva. Until 2011, Vesna took another four podium spots including two victories in Rybinsk, Russia. After a total of five individual and one team World Cup podium, the career was crowned with a third place at the Sotchi Olympic Winter Games in 2014.

Your FIS Cross-Country World Cup family will miss you and wishes you all the best for your future!
