Johannes Høsflot Klæbo from Norway had pulled out of yesterdays 10km interval start after not feeling well prior to the start. However, for todays Sprint in Free technique, the recovery had kicked in and he was back on home soil around the Birkebeineren stadium in Lillehammer.

The currently seemingly unbeatable Johannes paced from the qualifications to the finals and hit his 52nd victory in the World Cup with fantastic skiing.

"Yes, I am back. I did not feel so good yesterday so decided to skip that one and I am really glad I made the decision to race today, I felt good."

The men´s final consisted of highly decorated Sprinters - from Klaebo to Federico Pellegrino, the elite Sprinter from the Italian team - as well as the next generation skiers with Edvin Anger from Sweden and Norwegian Ansgar Evensen. The Norwegian Spring duo Paal Golberg and Even Northug completed the final round and right from the start, all athletes paced out for the top spots.

Johannes Hosflot Klaebo could not be caught despite Federico Pellegrino playing his card of experience and strength all right. "Chicco" Pellegrino hit the second place before Even Northug ensured his 2nd ever World Cup podium after holding up strongly against his competitors.
