START OF THE SPORTING CAREER

• Nicole Fessel started her Cross-Country Skiing career at the age of 6

CAREER

• She competed at the FIS Nordic Junior World Championships in 2002 and 2003
• At the Junior World Ski Championships 2002 in Schonach she claimed silver medal in sprint free
• In 2003 she claimed her biggest junior success - she became Junior World Champion in sprint
• World Cup debut in Düsseldorf 2002
• In 2005 first World Ski Championships in her home region in Oberstdorf/Allgäu
• At the Olympic Games in Torino, Fessel was narrowly edged out of the sprint finals and took 31st spot
• In 2007 first individual top 10 in the World Cup finishing 8th in Asiago (Tour de Ski)
• In 2007 and 2009 she took 15th place in sprint at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Sapporo and Liberec whilst in 2010 at the Olympics, Fessel made her best rank as 17th in sprint
• Six top 10 results at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championsips in Oslo and Val di Fiemme.
• 22nd in the Overall World Cup standing 2012/13

PERSONAL

• Nicole Fessel is a member of the German customs ski team and is educated as office management assistant
• She likes reading, climbing and shopping
• Fessel has a brother (Tobias) and two sisters (Verena and Theresia)
