Steamboat Visa Big Air World Cup confirmed for 2-4 December

We’ve got an exciting announcement today in conjunction with US Ski & Snowboard, as we’re are able to confirm the Visa Big Air presented by Toyota at Steamboat Resort, which is set to go down from 2-4 of December at the famed Colorado resort.
The first of what will be three U.S.-based park & pipe competitions on the 2021/22 World Cup calendar, the Visa Big Air presented by Toyota at Steamboat Resort will also be the second park & pipe World Cup of the season after October’s Big Air Chur Festival.
For freeski, meanwhile, Steamboat will be the third World Cup competition of the season after the Big Air Chur and the Stubai slopestyle World Cup in Austria in November.
More specific details about the venue and set-up in Steamboat will be coming as we get closer to go-time in December. What you can know right now, however, is that the big air competition there in Colorado will be taking place on-hill at Steamboat Resort - meaning no scaffolding, just snow - and that competition is guaranteed to feature top-to-bottom start lists of the world’s very best freeskiers and snowboarders as we gear up for the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games in February.
Immediately after Steamboat we’ll see this season’s Toyota U.S. Grand Prix series get underway at Copper Mountain, with snowboard and freeski halfpipe competition going down from 8-11 December, followed up in January by slopestyle and halfpipe competitions in Mammoth Mountain from 6-8 January, 2022
Also included in the December and January North American World Cup series will be a pair of events in Calgary (CAN), with freeski halfpipe and snowboard slopestyle competition there set to bring us into the New Year, taking place from 30 December to January 2nd.
As for health and safety for the upcoming events, specific information will be forthcoming as the local organising committee works through its detailed protocols with local and state health officials. The Toyota U.S. Grand Prix and Visa Big Air World Cups are contingent on local and state health department approvals based on existing and future COVID-19 rules and regulations.
FIS, U.S. Ski & Snowboard, the local organising committees and all resort partners are taking a unified approach consistent with guidance from federal, state, and local health authorities.
