The Ski Cross circuit arrived in the 2.000 inhabitants small Italian village Innichen/ San Candido, which is located in South Tyrolean Pustertal for back-to-back races from 20 – 22 December 2022. Innichen is not only one of the longest-running venues, having hosted competitions annually dating back to 2009, but also one of the prettiest ones, with the course located directly underneath the Unesco World Heritage Site Dolomite Mountain range.

After three successful races, whereof two have been in Val Thorens (FRA) and one in Arosa (SUI) it`s reigning Beijing 2022 Olympic Champion Sandra Naeslund (SWE) who is leading the women’s World Cup standing list with 300 points, followed by Olympic silver medallist winner Marielle Thompson (CAN) and Olympic bronze medallist Daniela Maier (GER).

On the men’s side of things, we have the newcomer Mathias Graf (AUT) leading the men’s World Cup standing list with 150 points, followed by another Austrian, Johannes Rohrweck (AUT) with 127 points and Terence Tchicknavorian with 124 points. All three of them have won one World Cup this season so far.

After 20 races hosted in Innichen, we also have a long list of winners. On the women’s side with a total of four wins it’s Sandra Naeslund who is leading the list with the most victories in Innichen. The title for the most podiums also goes to Sandra Naeslund, adding two second places and one third place, followed by Fanny Smith (SUI) who can already count six podiums here in Innichen (ITA). Naeslund is also the title defender of last years race in Innichen.

In the field of men, we saw a higher variety of winners over the last years. So, we also have two men which are leading the list of most victories, in fact the two Swiss athletes Marc Bischofberger and Joos Berry which both already won two times in Italy, Innichen. The one who is leading the list of most podiums is also the title defender of last years race. With one victory and four second places Bastien Midol (FRA) is the one who was on the podium the most often.

Let’s see who will win the battle for the famous South Tyrolian speck, the traditional winner’s prize for each of the races in Innichen/San Candido this year.

The two Qualifications will get underway on Tuesday, 20 December 2022. The first Qualification which counts for the first final on Wednesday starts at 10:45 CET for the men and at 12:15 CET for the women.
