The atmosphere in the FIS Headquarters was heavy on Monday morning as the FIS staff mourned long-time president Gian Franco Kasper.

At the headquarters that he was responsible for establishing in Oberhofen (SUI), the staff said one final goodbye to its long-term leader, by having a traditional Swiss "Znüni" of coffee and croissants, the favorite food of Gian Franco. Staff members took the opportunity to share their memories of Gian Franco through the years in the garden of the headquarters, bringing both laughter and tears.

The FIS Flags were lowered to half mast and will remain there for 23 days, one day for each year Gian Franco served as the FIS President.

The entire FIS staff will always remember former FIS President Gian Franco Kasper fondly, and sends its deepest condolences to his family.

Below you can view Gian Franco Kasper’s legacy video highlighting his many achievements during his tenure.

Thank you for everything Gian Franco!
