Bad weather prevents SX race to take place in Innichen

Unfortunately, due to very heavy rainfall, which turned into heavy snowfall, the fifth race of the Audi FIS Ski Cross Alps Tour had to be cancelled today.
This meant that results of Friday’s qualies did count as results for today. The women’s podium saw France’s Marielle Berger Sabbatel winning ahead of Cross Alps Tour leader Sandra Naeslund (SWE) and Brittany Phelan (CAN), who despite of a hand injury, which she had been carrying since her crash in Val Thorens.

On the men’s side, Cross Alps Tour leader Kevin Drury (CAN) seems to be in an unstoppable shape, as he also clocked the fastest time in the quali, second on the podium was Florian Wilmsmann from Germany and rounding out the podium was Jonathan Midol (FRA), who is no stranger to the Innichen podium.

Cross Alps Tour leader bibs stay with Kevin Drury and Sandra Naeslund after today’s results and the Canadian will crown himself the Cross Alps Tour champion at tomorrow’s race, since nobody is able to catch him anymore with his margin of points.
On the women's side, Sandra Naeslund is still in the lead, but Marielle Thopson is very close, only 76 points behind. It could be a tight battle on the last race of December, to catch the CAT title. Only one way to find out - tune in! Team Canada will be taking home the Cross Alps Tour Nations Cup with having had Canadian’s on each podium of this season.

Although we partially already know who is going to win the CAT, let’s start the sun dance everybody and make the bad weather go away – we want to see some proper ski cross action going down in beautiful Innichen/ San Candido before the Christmas break!
