SX World Cup tour without Innichen (ITA) this year

Unfortunately, the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup 2020/21 will take place without its classical pre-Christmas tour stop in Innichen/ San Candido (ITA).
Traditionally the December tour concluded with back-to-back races in the South-Tyrolian UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomite mountains.
Innichen/San Candido is rich in history, warm in atmosphere, and - as an annual host of the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup since 2009 – deeply committed to ski cross.

However, due to the current circumstances with the Covid-19 pandemic and after careful consideration with all stakeholders, it was decided that the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup in Innichen / San Candido (ITA) will be cancelled this year.

"It was a really tough decision that the entire Organizing Committee did not take like-heartedly, because our commitment to ski cross has always been very big and we plan on continuing with our 10-year-plan for the development of the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup in Innichen/ San Candido. We promise to be back in 2021 and already can’t wait,” Helmuth Senfter, Head of the OC Innichen/ San Candido, states.

“Of course, it is a huge pity not to have such a classical race like Innichen/ San Candido in our calendar this year. The athletes love it, the fans love it, the Organizing Committee always does an excellent job and the course offers some really good passing and makes for an amazing ski cross action that we like to show the world. We understand the challenges that the Organizer is facing this year and accept their decision. I would like to thank the whole Innichen-team for their hard work and commitment over the years,” Klaus Waldner, FIS Cross Race Director comments.

Despite all the difficult news this year, we are already looking forward to welcoming back ski cross action in Innichen/ San Candido in 2021 to see the battle for the highly anticipated South-Tyrolian speck continue.
