Veysonnaz (SUI) hosting ski cross world cup for fourth time

The FIS Ski Cross World Cup is back in Switzerland for the second time this season. After we saw an amazing night of racing in Arosa beginning of the season, we are super excited to be back in the French-speaking Switzerland, more precious in Veysonnaz for the fourth time.
Veysonnaz is located in Rhone valley, 15 km away from the canton capital Sitten. The Ski resort belongs to the 4 Vallées group and is beside the ski cross races also well know for the ski alpine world cup races which took place there over the last years.
Recap World Championships 2023 Bakuriani, Georgia
The new world champion 2023 is no one else, then Swede Sandra Naeslund. The 26-year-old Olympic champion who is unbeaten for over 14 month was once again also unbeaten on this special day. Also, for the first time this season, Naeslund had to concede the qualification win to Thompson, she didn’t fluster, and not only won the single, but also the team event together with her teammate David Mobaerg.
The surprise on the podium in second place was Kathrin Ofner (AUT). After she stood on the podium in Idre Fjäll after more than a year, she also managed to show her best skiing in Bakuriani and earned the silver medal.
Next to Naeslund and Ofner we saw Fanny Smith (SUI) on the podium who can put another bronze medal to her already existing five world championships medals.
On the men’s side of things, the new world champion is called Simone Deromedis (ITA). The young Italian who had to take a break from racing for four weeks, because he broke his collarbone in Idre Fjäll came back stronger than everyone expected and took home the well-deserved gold medal.
Florian Wilmsmann, the 27-year-old German can call himself vice world champion. Wilmsmann was more than happy that he finally stood on the podium after his best results were one fourth and three fifth places this season to this point.
The bronze medal also went to Sweden, in fact to Erik Mobaerg. Beside another third place at the world championships in 2021 he only stood on the world cup podium once so far, which makes him an athlete on whom you can count on at big events.

Qualification will already go down one day earlier than scheduled due to the bad weather forecast. Instead of Saturday, 11 March Qualification already starts on Friday, 10 March 2023 at 11:45 CET women and at 12:25 CET men.
