The jumping round of the very first FIS Continental Cup Mixed Team event in Eisenerz (AUT) was an extremely close affair, held on a very high level. In the end the, the winners of the jumping round once again came from Norway: While the first jumper Aleksander Skoglund lost a few points on the other teams with his jump of 97 metres, both Mari Leinan Lund (96.5 metres) and Gyda Westvold Hansen (103 metres) had a very good jump and were able to win their group.

With a jump of 102 metres Norway’s last competitor Simen Tiller was able to land the longest jump of the day and brought his team in the lead, +0:08 seconds ahead of Austria (Thomas Rettenegger, Sigrun Kleinrath, Lisa Hirner, Stefan Rettenegger) and +0:27 seconds ahead of Japan (Daimatsu Takehana, Anju Nakamura, Ayane Miyazaki and Kodai Kimura).

The cross-country race was a start-finish-victory of the Norwegian team. Already Skoglund showed a very strong performance on the track and was able to enlarge his team’s advantage on Austria to 27.4 seconds. While Leinan Lund was able to keep the advantage quite constant on her lap, young Austrian Hirner was able to make up about 13 seconds on Westvold Hansen on her leg of the race.

In the end it was Tiller, who ensured the Norwegian victory, +0:18 seconds ahead of Austria.
Behind these two teams, the competition got super exciting with the teams from Japan, Germany and USA fighting for the positions three, four and five. In the end it was Japan, whose women showed a very strong cross-country performance and who was therefore able to secure the third spot on the podium. Rank four went to the U.S. team, fifth was Germany, sixth place went to Italy.
