COC season to get underway in Park City (USA)

International Nordic Combined action is coming back to Park City, Utah on the upcoming weekend. The Snow Control by official FIS Snow Controller Alan Alborn has been positive and the venue is gearing up to host the much anticipated start of the competition season for the Nordic Combined women and COC men.
The Continental Cup season opening events will take place between two venues: the ski jumping portion will take place at the Utah Olympic Park and the cross-country races will be contested at Soldier Hollow.
A star-studded cast from 13 nations (men) and six nations (women) will be descending upon Park City. Headlining this lineup is local hero Tara Geraghty-Moats, who will be looking to keep her winning streak alive. Last year, Geraghty-Moats won all ten Continental Cups she competed in and is currently the best women’s Nordic Combined skier in the world. She will be challenged by Russian Summer Grand Prix winner Stefaniya Nadymova, who is looking to close the gap on Geraghty-Moats also in the winter time.
On the men's side, World Cup-experienced Paul Gerstgraser, Domink Terzer (AUT), Leif Torbjørn Næsvold , Sindre Ure Søtvik (NOR), Raffaele Buzzi (ITA), Aguri Shimizu (JPN), Lukas Danek, Jan Vytrval (CZE) and Jakob Lange (GER) will face off with local heroes Jared Shumate, Jasper Good and Ben Loomis.
This year, USA Nordic is putting an emphasis on the spectator experience for the events. The highlight of the weekend will be Saturday night’s Mass Start jumping event at the Utah Olympic Park. The outrun of the ski jump will be filled with vendors, food trucks, beverages, fire pits, and live music. The doors will open at 5:00 pm local time.
