Finnish Nordic Combined teams announced

Next to staff news (see here), the Finnish Ski Association has also nominated the athletes to the different teams for the upcoming 2019/20 season.

The cornerstone of the Nordic Combined training is to further strengthen the capacity of the national team and other training groups during home training periods. High-quality group activities will  frame the trainings of both A-team athletes and young group members and those practicing in high school groups throughout the year.

For the first time in the last season, young female athletes were competing in the FIS Junior World Championships. The Finnish team's girls are very young, with the potential to grow into a more competitive team in the future. The girls are now increasingly integrated in the Development team and the Hopeasompa Upper Secondary School.

The Junior national team continues to train under the leadership of Antti Kuisma mainly in Vuokatti. The goal of the junior national team, which has seven athletes, is to challenge the national team and to create the ability to get into the World Cup for each athlete.

Also in the coaching of this young team, the development of ski jumping skills is key. Jumping skills and understanding are being developed and training is determined even more from the point of view of jumping. During the training period, youth teams will accumulate over 50 training camps.
